My daughter has just started grade 9 and so far she has been very happy but if you are patriotic and you want your child to say the pledge every morning, best you go to Cactus high school. Ironwood has taken the pledge away. Very disappointing for many pupils and parents.

Ironwood is an awesome school. Most of the things people here are complaining about can be easily avoided. If you do not like your teachers, you have the opportunity to switch. I have never had any problems with contacting administration, and most of the time their replies are in a timely manner. You are locked out of your classrooms if you are late AND unexcused. If your tardiness is excused, they should allow you to go back into class. If you are having trouble making friends, there are hundreds of clubs and programs that you can attend to meet people with common interests. The only complaint I have is that I believe the school spends a bit too much time and effort on sports, when they could be improving the academics. I am currently going through the pre-I.B. program, and have enjoyed every day of it.

Ironwood is a good school but it has it flaws so many kids worrying about other peoples life and not theirs, they don't know how to pay attention to what is going on around them they have to be in other peoples business and the teachers play favoritism and they are more worried about what the student is like not what he/she is capable of

Good luck finding a math teacher who knows math, an English teacher who does not play favorites, or an administrator that is willing to use e-mail. I'm not saying ALL employees are incompetent - just good luck getting the right schedule for your child. Ironwood USED to be an excellent school, but not with the current "leadership". Parents seem to do most of the work for the staff.

i do not believe in the students being late and not being able to attend a class. no one is perfect, yet seems some get behind because of this

Some of the teachers are good, but the focus on IB has destroyed other great programs. An emphasis on a small number of students leaves a lot lacking for the non-IB kids. The IB classes do not seem to give an edge to those students when applying for colleges either.

This school is so large and impersonal that, unless your child is in the honors program, no one seems to care. They lock the kids out of classrooms if they're even one minute late - depriving them of an entire day's worth of class. So much for academics. The whole staff could use customer service training!

This a great school if your child is gifted or interested in the Pre-IB program or is in the IB program.

I am currently a student at Ironwood and have to say that it does an excellent job at meeting my academic needs. I am an IB candidate and love the academic challenges presented to me at Ironwood. This school creates an environment that is welcoming to students of all levels and does not segregate the honor students from the 'average' students. The guidance office is always willing to help and the cousellors are able to offer advice and programs catered to any student's' wants and needs. Rules are strictly enforced, but easy to abide by. It doesn't matter who you are or what social group you are typically in, you will be accepted by a multitude of people on this campus. Ironwood seems highly competitive, especially among the honor students, but still manages to keep an exciting and accepting environment.

Ironwood is a school that does not rest on its laurels - the admin and staff always strive to improve. The culture emphasizes that it is good to be smart. Athletics are also well supported. The teachers really care about their students. There is a strong club, Student Council, and service organization structure, that makes this a good environment for the students. The principal works well with students, staff, and parents to create a safe school. The reasons I did not rate Ironwood as 5 stars have to do with the funding provided by the District. Teachers are struggling to get funds for the Arts and Music. Students are being asked to buy books in English classes and share books in Science because the District has not provided enough for all the students. The IB program conflicts with AP class offerings; some students can't take AP Physics for example.

This is a very good school to attend. There is no drama and everybody is really nice. Students here have different goals and things thats on their mind like school work and inportant things instead of gossip and rumors. Thanks Ironwood!

I am a former student of IHS. High school is all about what you make of it- I had a fantastic experience (and it wasn't that long ago). Almost all my teachers were wonderful, intelligent, and understanding. I was on the honors track, taking challenging courses and will always be thankful to the wonderful teachers who pushed me to exceed. The sports programs and clubs programs are also good. They may not be the best (I don't really know anymore) but they have great heart.
